FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY!

SITE PREP CHECKLIST

  • Make sure the ground is level, this is essential if you want to get your building certified. The newly built structure cannot be more than 3 inches off level from either front/back or left/right. If the site isn’t level during the installation, our experts will level the site at an additional fee. Ensure that you have cleared the area of debris, machinery or tools so installation team can access the site. If not, the installation team may have to come back again later, which would mean time delay and more expenses for you in your carport installation. In case the area isn’t leveled when our team arrives for installation, if possible, they may offer to level the site for you. However, this will cost you an extra fee.
  • Carports can be installed on soil foundation, however, if you’re choosing the soil as the foundation, you must prepare the site by removing any kind of vegetation, grass or debris.
  • Level the area. For this, you can either use a commercial tamper or drive over the area multiple times to make the loose soil pounded and compact. You can also use a concrete roller to get the job done easily.
  • Once the ground is ready, keep the area clear so our experts can come in with heavy equipment and get the job done at as quickly as possible.
  • If you wish to use a concrete pad as the permanent foundation, you must have the area completely ready; concrete fully cured and settled, before our experts can start installing the structure.
  • Make sure that the concrete pad meets the guidelines made by local authority, and get it checked beforehand by an expert so there aren’t any issues during installation or the certification process.
  • Your carport installation site should be accessible. Most Install Team will arrive in a Large Pick-Up Truck with a 30'-40' Trailer. (Sharp Turns, Steep Hills, or limited Space can cause issues)

MIX & MATCH COLORS FOR YOUR ROOF, SIDES, ENDS, AND TRIM

But wait! There's another option, Wainscott Siding.

This is another inexpensive option. Wainscot is a design element which provides for side panels of one color ascending the wall at 36″ height where it meets with a contrasting upper wall color. Think of a colonial style wall with darker color panels on the bottom portion of the wall and a lighter color on the walls above. The same concept can easily be applied to the end walls of your steel building.

HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT SIZE

The dimensions of the unit (width, length and height) are based on your need and what the planned use or function of the unit is going to be.  The side height is measured on the side wall and not at the center or apex of the unit. You will want to ensure that the unit’s side height is tall enough for your car, truck, camper or RV. Should you ever plan to enclose the unit, add enough space for garage door height and clearance. If you are unsure about any of the dimensions, call us and one of our experienced team members can assist you in selecting the right one for your needs.

desing criteria in your area

The weather in your area determines what kind of carport you would need.    When purchasing a Carport, it is important to consider the wind load certification to ensure that the structure can withstand high winds, especially if the building is located in an area known for inclement weather.  Note: Consult your local building department for your specific Snow Load requirements.

Any other criteria/requirements such as “extra snow load baring weight and wind load resistance” can be met with engineering certification “upon customer’s request.” Customized steel structures are always welcomed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at customcarports1@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

 • Site preparation is very important for a good installation. As a reminder we are not responsible for any site prep. Below are a few steps that will help with building installation:
• Mark all underground lines if any on or around site area.
• Land must be squared and leveled. Call for more details.
• Minimum workspace of 2-3ft around entire structure. All extra wide units/extended leg heights need 5ft of level clearance.
• When overhead power lines are involved, a minimum of 10 ft is needed, or power lines must be completely shut off.

You may need a permit, depending on your state regulations, local zoning laws, or rural location. Customers are responsible for permits.

If a building permit is required, then your building department will require an Engineer Certified unit that is rated for wind and/or snow load.

14 gauge units come with a 90-day limited workmanship warranty. 12 gauge carports come with a 20-year warranty against rust through the frame, assuming standard care and maintenance are applied. Also a 90-day limited workmanship warranty is included for 12 gauge products. There are no other warranties stated or implied. Additions, modifications, and alterations void all warranties.

Usually 2-4 weeks from the date that you are ready to have your building installed. If your order is received and you are not ready, the 2-4 week window begins when you are ready to take delivery of your building. Do keep in mind that during the summer and early fall, delivery windows may increase based on customer demand (remote areas make take longer). For the most accurate delivery windows, please call us as the demand for our products varies from season to season.

Installation time will largely depend on a few factors. These include:

  • Size of the structure
  • Site where the structure will be installed
  • Any additional customizations you have requested
  • Weather conditions at the time of installation

As a guide, a smaller standard structure can be completed in a few hours, conditions permitting. For larger structures with customized options, it can take up to a few days.

We use high quality American Made manufactured Steel which is galvanized to further protect your building structure. For out steel we provide two-gauge options-Square 1. 14G- 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 steel tubing and 12 Gauge -2 1/4 x 2 1/4 steel tubing. Our 12 Gauge tubing offers a 20-year rust through warranty.

We categorize our surfaces into four basic types; dirt surfaces, asphalt surfaces, concrete surfaces, and wooden surfaces. The difference between the installations over various kinds of surfaces is the anchors used. Below we have listed the anchor options and the cases where they are utilized.

  • Rebar Anchors: For non-certified installations over dirt/ asphalt surfaces.
  • Mobile Home Anchors: For certified installations over dirt/ asphalt surfaces.
  • Concrete/ Wedge anchors: For installations over concrete surfaces.
